Ready Set Go to Kindergarten

I-Spy Jars

Nicolle Bellmore Pierse - Thursday, January 07, 2021

I-Spy jars are a twist on sensory bottles that can be super fun to keep your little one occupied in the car or just in general! Here's how they work: Fill an empty plastic water bottle with some sort of filler (sand, beans, or rice are common options) and various trinkets. Make sure the lid is closed tightly and shake everything up. You can use hot glue or superglue to ensure that your child doesn't unscrew the lid later on.

If you keep track of the objects you put in the bottle, you can create a list of things for your child to find or make a game out of it by telling them to find a specific object. No worries if you don't want to keep track, your child will have just as much fun by discovering the hidden treasures!

Possible Trinkets to Include:

  • Dice
  • Coins
  • Beads with letters or pictures on them
  • Paper clips
  • Small birthday candle
  • Rubber band
  • Pom-pom
  • Safety pin
  • Toothpicks
  • Confetti in different shapes
  • Googly eyes
  • Legos
  • Small buttons
