Fall Is Here!

Fall is here! Plan a family fun day to visit one of your local apple orchards to pick apples!

Everything you do with your child, is a learning experience. While at the orchard talk about the sizes, colors, shapes of the apples. Introduce language while talking about sweet vs. sour and all the names of different apples. Don’t stop the learning experience there and buy some apples to make some homemade applesauce at home with your child.

Homemade Crockpot Apple Sauce:

9-12 Medium Size Apples (Ex. Golden Delicious, Gala, Honey Crisp Apples)

½ cup brown sugar

½ tsp- Cinnamon

½ cup water

Peel and core the apples and cut into little chunks and put into your crockpot. Stir in cinnamon, water and brown sugar with the apples until they are covered.

Cook on High in Crockpot for 3-4 hours or low for 7-8 hours or until apples are soft. Use a potato masher or blender for a smoother texture. Store in a sealed container and enjoy! You can also freeze for later use.
