After reading...and re-reading...and reading just one more time...Dr. Seuss to a giggly preschooler it becomes very clear to parents and educators alike that children LOVE books that rhyme.  Research has shown for years that rhyming is an important early literacy skill.  There are so many great rhyming books out there here is a quick list of twenty-one that you may want to check out today!

  • Zin! Zin! Zin! A Violin by Lloyd Moss
  • Hush! A Thai Lullaby by Minfong Ho
  • This Little Chick by John Lawrence
  • Some Dogs Do by Jez Alborough
  • Wild About Books by Judy Sierra
  • Time for Bed by Mem Fox
  • Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown
  • Miss Spider's Tea Party by David Kirk
  • Barnyard Dance! by Sandra Boynton
  • Pio Peep! Traditional Spanish Nursery Rhymes by Ama Flor Ada & F. Isabel Campoy
  • The Frogs and Toads All Sang by Arnold Lobel
  • Tub Toys by Terry Miller Shannon & Timothy Warner
  • Bats at the Beach by Brian Lies
  • The Seven Silly Eaters by Mary Ann Hoberman
  • An Octopus Followed Me Home by Dan Yaccarino
  • Down to the Sea with Mr. Magee by Chris Van Dusen
  • Mrs. McNosh Hangs Up Her Wasy by Sarah Weeks
  • Who Took the Cookie from the Cookie Jar? by Bonnie Lass
  • Sixteen Cows by Lisa Wheeler
